Phase 03 – Verification and handover · Building information
Verification of delivered information
Information Verification · IDS, BCF · 3D spatial clash detection
Verification that the delivered information matches the brief. It runs continuously or at defined milestones. The check can cover the full scope of the building information model, incl. the digital building model (IFC or the “BIM model”) and further related documents and outputs as needed.
When to address this
- You receive models and documentation but have no way to tell whether they match what you commissioned.
- The check is done by the party that delivers. Handover is approaching and you don’t want to sign something nobody has examined.
- Or you need to prove to a third party that the delivery met the requirements.
Deliverables
-
Verification of delivered information against the brief
- Was it produced according to the brief? Completeness, structure, classification and values following from the exchange information requirements, the level of information need and the building data standard (DSS)
- If needed, the information requirements can be converted into the machine-readable Information Delivery Specification (IDS) standard.
-
3D spatial clash detection
- Federating the IFC models of the individual disciplines into a coordination model and detecting clashes based on a coordination matrix.
- Agreed rules and meaningful tolerances (e.g. hard clashes – intersections of structures and building services; soft clashes – spatial reserves for inspection openings).
Scope can be narrowed
A common entry point is a one-off verification of a single delivery before handover, or building a set of IDS checks.
